After the success of the Beijing Olympics, more and more people are deciding to tour China as they travel Asia. Throughout China, there are several popular cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Guilin, Lhasa, and Guangzhou. In each city, there are multiple sites to see while you enjoy your tour of China.


Beijing is not only the capital of China, but it also provides those who travel around Asia a look at some royal, historical sites. Located in northern China, it provides the center for the nation’s educational, economical, cultural, and political sites. These sites include Tian’anmen Square, the Forbidden City, The Temple of Heaven, and a section of the Great Wall.


Once you travel to Shanghai, which has been referred to as the “Oriental Pearl” and the “Oriental Paris” has long provided easy access to foreign travelers and international trade. Modern Shanghai has experienced many economic successes and rapid development that has turned it into an international metropolis. It also provides a unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures.


Xian and Guilin are both must sees when you tour China during your travel to Asia. Guilin offers tourists an amazing view of its landscape with hills, bamboo, conifers, and caves. Major attractions in the area include Reed Flute Cave, the Seven-Star Park, a Stone Museum, Elephant Trunk Hill, Li River. The Solitary Beauty Peak and the Tomb of Prince Jingjiang can also be found there.


Located along the Yellow River Basin, the Xian is famous for its historical sites and wonderful attractions and is considered one of the four major ancient civilization capitals along with Athens, Cairo, and Rome. The most popular attractions includes the Museum of Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, the City Wall of the Ming Dynasty, and the Forest of the Stone Steles.


As the capital city of Tibet, Lhasa means “Holy Land” and “ Buddha Land” in the Tibetan language. Therefore, it comes as no surprise to those who visit the land that Lhasa is the center of political, economical, and cultural aspects of the Tibetan people. Those who tour Lhasa as they travel Asia can arrive by road, plane, or train.


Lastly, Gaungzhou, which is known as the South Gate of China, is the capital city of Guangdong. As such, it is the center for all aspects of life in Guangdong. The Western Han Nanyue King’s Tomb Museum, the Zhenhai Tower, and the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall all provide the history of Guangzhou.
